A Long Time Ago ... I became a Star Wars fan. My love for Star Wars was born when my father took me and my brother to see the original movie at the Regent Theatre in my home town, Great Yarmouth, in January 1978. I was 7 years-old. Needless to say, it made quite an impact on me. To celebrate The Force Awakens, I have created a 100-day countdown to its release. Using images from my collection, I will share my favorite memories of 35+ years of being a fan and collector of all things Star Wars.

88 days to go: A long time ago... before the digital age!
Growing up in the 1970s, we didn’t have such things as DVD or video players, and Star Wars was never shown on TV. As some of you may remember, the closest thing to seeing the film again in those days was to listen to the Read-Along albums and look at the handful of photos in the accompanying book. I had all three of the original movies on vinyl LPs, along with their picture books. The records were well-worn, through being played so much. To this day I can tell you where the scratches were on the vinyl and where I would have to get up and move the needle along when it got stuck!
