18 days to go: T-Shirt Wars

I have never been ashamed of telling the world that I am a big fan of Star Wars. What better way to do this than to wear a Star Wars t-shirt? In the early days there was a very small selection to choose from, but over time the range available has grown exponentially. Now my Star Wars t-shirt collection even outnumbers my Disney t-shirts! My oldest surviving one is a black and gold Darth Vader t-shirt I purchased on a visit to Texas in 1993. My current favorites include ones with the green Lucasfilm logo, which is an exclusive from their Cast Member shop, a Return Of The Jedi logo, an original Force Awakens logo and one with a graphic showing Star Wars characters lining up to use a British ‘phone box’.

19 days to go: A wedding a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away...

Naturally, our wedding day had a Star Wars twist, finishing the day with a 1980’s sci-fi themed disco. I dressed as Darth Vader and my whole team from work dressed as various Star Wars characters. I certainly didn’t have a bad feeling about the day. Our (me and my new husband, Doctor Who) first dance started with a kiss. Many of my family dressed as Daleks to help bring balance to the Force.

20 days to go: Anyone for a game of Trivial Pursuit?

I have to confess that I am totally useless at Trivial Pursuit, however, Star Wars Trivial Pursuit is a whole different matter! Not many people would dare to take me on, but I have a husband that has a very good memory and he will certainly give me a run for my money. Much to my frustration he has been known to beat me! Of course, when that happens it is more down to luck of the dice rather than Star Wars IQ! With a few exceptions, all of my board games are Star Wars ones (I also have Disney Trivial Pursuit!). As a kid I always wanted the Return of the Jedi, Sarlacc Pit Board Game and I was thrilled when my friend Kathi recently gave it to me as a gift.

21 days to go: Just one more thing to collect!

Like I needed another sub-category of Star Wars to collect, but when Disney came out with their Star Wars Vinylmation, I just had to get on the bandwagon. Vinylmation are small pieces of art, created on a template of Mickey Mouse. I very quickly realized that I was going to have to spend a lot of money to get them all, especially as they keep releasing very rare 'special event' ones. I now just collect the ones that are readily available, although I am missing the Return of the Jedi set, which is probably my favorite of all the ones released so far.

22 days to go: Our kitchen has turned to the Dark Side!

Beyond the toys and collectibles kept mint in packaging, my Star Wars collection has many things that have a more practical use. These include a variety of Star Wars kitchen and home accessories. The kitchen in our house has traditionally been predominantly Disney themed. Now that Star Wars is part of Disney they can live in harmony in the same room!

23 days to go: Making history

I am not much of a magazine buyer, but whenever Star Wars makes it to the front cover of well-known titles, such as Time or Vanity Fair, I have to buy one. Beyond the article content, I love the reminder that this film called ‘Star Wars’ that has occupied so much of my life is important enough to make it to the cover of some of the most renowned journals there are. In a world that seems to be filled with bad news at times, it is good to celebrate something that brings so much happiness and positivity into so many peoples lives.
