A Long Time Ago ... I became a Star Wars fan. My love for Star Wars was born when my father took me and my brother to see the original movie at the Regent Theatre in my home town, Great Yarmouth, in January 1978. I was 7 years-old. Needless to say, it made quite an impact on me. To celebrate The Force Awakens, I have created a 100-day countdown to its release. Using images from my collection, I will share my favorite memories of 35+ years of being a fan and collector of all things Star Wars.

54 days to go: Hanging out at the arcade
Although I wouldn’t call myself a ‘gamer’, I have played a fair few Star Wars games over the years. I remember with fond memories my addiction to the original Star Wars arcade game, which involved flying an X-Wing Fighter in an attempt to blow up the Death Star. Many hours were spent in my local arcade trying to achieve that crucial mission. Of course, gaming mainly take place in the home now, with personal games consoles and home computers. Although I don’t have many of the actual consoles to play them on any longer, I have kept my games dating back to the Atari releases of the early 80s, right up to the latest Star Wars version of Disney Infinity.
