A Long Time Ago ... I became a Star Wars fan. My love for Star Wars was born when my father took me and my brother to see the original movie at the Regent Theatre in my home town, Great Yarmouth, in January 1978. I was 7 years-old. Needless to say, it made quite an impact on me. To celebrate The Force Awakens, I have created a 100-day countdown to its release. Using images from my collection, I will share my favorite memories of 35+ years of being a fan and collector of all things Star Wars.

43 days to go: The day I met Darth Vader
Back in the early 80’s I remember a new toy store opening in my hometown, called Kerrisons. I read about it in the local newspaper, but the thing that caught my attention was that Darth Vader would be at the opening! I remember being so excited when meeting him. I asked the shopkeeper if I could have the large cardboard standee of Darth Vader that was used to promote the event. He said yes! I had to wait some weeks before I could go and collect it but when I eventually got it, it became the center piece of my Star Wars display in my childhood bedroom.
