A Long Time Ago ... I became a Star Wars fan. My love for Star Wars was born when my father took me and my brother to see the original movie at the Regent Theatre in my home town, Great Yarmouth, in January 1978. I was 7 years-old. Needless to say, it made quite an impact on me. To celebrate The Force Awakens, I have created a 100-day countdown to its release. Using images from my collection, I will share my favorite memories of 35+ years of being a fan and collector of all things Star Wars.

44 days to go: Thank you, Granddad!
I have never really been a big comic book fan, but over the years I have collected a number of Star Wars related comics. I remember the first Star Wars ones I got were a treat from my Grandfather. My siblings and I would always spend much of our summer with our grandparents when my parents were at work. My grandfather would take us out for long walks along the Norfolk Broads (famous waterways by my hometown). We would always stop at a small newsagents store in the Great Yarmouth train station where he would allow us a small treat of either sweets (candy) or a comic book. I would always choose a Star Wars comic book (yes, I loved Star Wars more than chocolate!!!).
