A Long Time Ago ... I became a Star Wars fan. My love for Star Wars was born when my father took me and my brother to see the original movie at the Regent Theatre in my home town, Great Yarmouth, in January 1978. I was 7 years-old. Needless to say, it made quite an impact on me. To celebrate The Force Awakens, I have created a 100-day countdown to its release. Using images from my collection, I will share my favorite memories of 35+ years of being a fan and collector of all things Star Wars.

47 days to go: A trip to New York City, 1999
I surprised Bradley with our first trip to New York City in 1999. At the time he was unaware of my ulterior motive… the timing coincided with the US release of Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace. We saw it four times during our six-day visit! In addition, we lined up at a Toys R Us in Manhattan one rainy Sunday morning to get hold of some of the new merchandise. Bradley heroically fought his way through the crowds to get me the then rare Darth Maul figure (I was too polite!).
